My diploma project was to modify the strategy of two existing board games – Ludo
and Snakes & Ladders. I had to develop interactive and friendly games for children
and thereby give the client a new marketing platform. I also had to create marketing
opportunities for new games using cost effective material in production and ensuring
their entry into export markets with developed products.

In order to develop my product I conducted web research followed by interaction with
manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers and end users about different aspects
of the game to find out their requirements and incorporate suggestions to suit market
needs. I analyzed the products by studying different board games strategies which
were adopted to suit the role of children in the game. The process of ideation included
creating different ideas about the board game considering creative, educative and
technological innovations. After the conceptualization of the final product prototypes
were developed and refinements in the final products were made. In the process I learnt
to take decisions about game design and also understood various business aspects like
marketing, costing and new market development.
