In my diploma project my assignment was to design user experience for Trol.ly. Trol.ly is a social media application which tries to replicate this offline Word of Mouth Advertising on online social networks. The interface had to be designed in such a manner that it made online Word of Mouth advertisement easy. As a social media application the core philosophy of Trol.ly are based on four words - Engagement, Recommendation, Conversation, and Sales. These four keywords were the foundation of my end product on the social network platform, Facebook. When people buy a product or service, they also like to talk about it and in this process recommend products and services they like to their friends. This is called the ‘Word of Mouth Advertisement’. Technology and web have created an online world, a virtual society where communities join, conversations and networking happen and all the things done physically are replicated. Man being a social animal, needs to connect socially in the virtual world too. Therefore the Web has become a social web and we are on the verge of a social online boom. Social networks, online transactions and businesses are booming and the World Wide Web is being used to its full potential.
