Most of the modern products such as transport, electricity, et al negatively affect our environment. It is, therefore, important that we initiate action now to create a sustainable and healthy tomorrow. Today it is vital not only to increase the awareness about the depletion of our environment, but also to increase people’s appreciation for the ‘environment friendly’ usage and products. As such, the retail environment where products are sold can be a good point to begin. One of the methods can be to make people understand and appreciate the beauty and value of the natural materials such as bamboo, natural fibers, which are much less harmful to the environment.
The objective of my diploma project was to create a brand that spreads the message of eco-friendly material and takes a step towards creating a sustainable future. To begin with, the strategy was to create a campaign for using eco-friendly material by introducing a product range of garment hangers and retail fixtures which may be displayed at retail outlets. I designed the entire product line, did branding and packaging scheme. My brand was called Atra.
The industry today is promoting the use and the idea of eco-friendly materials and trends are moving in the direction of ‘green retail’. One sees latest technological developments in eco-friendly printers, garments/clothing, accessories, etc. The brand like Atra, beginning with a small focused and later spreading its wings over a broader perspective would help develop the idea of environment friendliness. It was a good learning experience for me to work on a project which could positively impact the environment. |
