My project brief was to develop a line of lighting solutions for homes. The project had to look at basic tasks at home and define insights based on which a series of lifestyle lighting products would be designed. Foley Design studio believes in inventive thinking; thus aiming to provide complete design solutions with a solid background study of the consumer and the market. My project included the creation of a detailed story leading to the design solution. This was presented to organisations such as Wipro and Bajaj so that the design solution could be taken forward for engineering, development and manufacturing. Co-branding with an established brand in the market as design solution was also explored. The design of the product was based on a user scenario including a number of potential users. Once potential users were identified, interviews and discussions were carried out to derive decisive inputs from them. Exploration in terms of alternative and eco-friendly technology was also done. The resultant conclusions led to forming the base of the product. Simultaneously the limitations in engineering of the product and technical aspects for prototyping were defined and considered while designing.
The final product is a pertinent solution for lighting spaces. It has value additions of aesthetics and specific usage with upgraded technology and back up time. |
