My project focused upon problems related to personal transportation in Melbourne, Australia. I proposed sustainable solutions which will not only improve commuting structure but also give the user the ability to drive his/her dream car.
I designed a car for car sharing. Car sharing can enhance the virtue of a car by giving flexibility of usage by simply sharing a car and not owning it. People can drive different cars using a single electronics key, irrespective of time and space. It has a positive impact on environment by reducing the number of cars on the road.
My final design is titled ‘Concept-Anyway’, a public car for commuters in the city which uses electricity as propulsion fuel. This car can be driven in both directions by providing two steering wheels on two ends of the car (hence its name). One can park it anywhere and can take it anywhere without reversing it. The exterior design has taken care to support this function by giving a loop like shape which is asymmetry in symmetry.
The user has flexible access to these cars and services using different interfaces. I also designed the interface. The whole service system consists of various layers or sub-services among its elements.
The designed process was very iterative and repeated experimentation helped me get a better output each time. I designed all my work on an on-line blog which helped me to open myself and solicit feedback for my design concepts which enhanced their quality. I am also pleased to have contributed positively to environmental conservation initiatives. |
