The Flight Planning at Global Data Center (GDC) of Honeywell is part of total service provided for aviation industry. The existing portal is a service oriented portal for making flight planning easy across global arenas. It helps pilots and commercial agencies to plan their flight plan with consideration of safety and comfort. The portal backed up with operating team at GDC provides rapid and exclusive service called Flight Sentinel for their premium customers which is very useful in emergencies. Since the portal has been built up over a long period of time, a review of its information architecture and restructuring was undertaken by the Global Data Center of Honeywell to upgrade it based on new customer requirements.
My project centered around the redesign of new information architecture based on contextual study by collecting information from users and customers on various problems with existing portal and services. To this end, I compiled the information from these studies and made presentations to team members and users for review. Next, I finalized the points agreed upon for modification and upgrade, considering new technology for enhancement.
My design solution comprised new information architecture which is more user friendly and aids in better navigation and search of information. The benefits of my design solution include increased productivity, sales and revenues and reduced training and support costs, development time and costs, maintenance costs and increased customer satisfaction. Thus, this design has enhanced the quality of services provided by GDC, Honeywell for which my work was appreciated. |
