Mosaics have a rich history and the art form has evolved across different cultures and survived for centuries and have fascinated me for a long time.
My project encompassed two major assignments.
The first involved designing mosaic tiles and borders for interior spaces like bathroom, kitchens and living rooms for users in Mumbai and Delhi. Since these metropolitan, multicultural and trend conscious cities which influence trends in the rest of the country, the intention was to build up the relation between the new concepts and latest trends and influence the lifestyles of high-income users. In addition to aesthetic aspects, I also focused on suggesting value additions to the present production processes.
My second assignment involved conceptualizing design concepts for the display and application of bathroom wall tile range using a common design language. I designed three ranges -Contemporary yet warm; Black or white and Classic ‘redefined’ which suggest various ambiences and a look and feel that can be achieved and enhanced by judicial layouting displays made a sincere effort to value add through new design concepts which are a blend of Indian interiors requirements and global trends.
This opportunity fostered a sense of pride that ceramic and glass industries are increasingly recognizing the importance of design inputs. The company also placed faith in me as a designer to contribute to their visual merchandizing initiatives in their showrooms. The layout project is already updated on their website. Since I handled many responsibilities independently, this experience has instilled a sense of confidence in me to take on large-scale projects in the future. |
