The Kila Raipur Sports Festival is the undisputed “Rural Olympics” of the world. This prestigious festival of rustics attracts more than 4,000 sportsmen and women both of recognized and traditional sports.
My project focused on developing a brand identity for this event so that it can be marketed in an effective manner. I developed basic identity elements (such as event logo, event colour, event typeface, event graphic elements, tone of voice for written materials and photography style for reportage and promotions. I further devised the application of collaterals ; as well as raw materials in hand (high-resolution library of images) and HD video footage. The objective was to entice foreigners to come to India and witness this unique event. From a domestic perspective, the objective was to elevate the event to a professionally run event . For others in India, the focus was to inform and bring this event to their notice as THE event that happens in their country.
The experience has been a deeply fulfilling one f. I gained a “macro-view” on the developmental impact in the form of economic impetus to the local economy and infrastructure. I also conducted extensive research on the Sikh Community, its history, culture and traditions as they dominate the village of Kila Raipur. In addition, I am happy to have contributed to the preservation of smaller cultures which in the face of globalization often gets diluted or lost. I am waiting with anticipation to see whether the brand identity I have designed is effective which will only be possible after the final implementation. |
