History of Germany
User experience centred
My project entailed developing educational games and animation to teach History of Germany. The aim of my project was to envision interactive games and modules in order to enhance the overall user experience and deliver educational content.
Educational games provide a forum in which learning arises as a result of tasks stimulated by the content of the games; knowledge is developed through the content of the game, and skills are developed as a result of playing the game. The SCOYO game is an interactive learning package about History of Germany using a role playing game model. This involves the evolution of Germany as a nation, its journey through time, its art, architecture, empires, and so on.
It attempts to inspire children to become more history literate and to bridge the gap between learning abstract ‘concepts’ and actually ‘doing’ historical expeditions through simulation. More broadly, it is hoped that by actively constructing these games, students will be motivated to make use of web applications for the purpose of learning.
The story plot revolves around a time travelling bunch of crime fighters who save history from getting manipulated in the evil hands of Agent X. It’s up to the time riders (users) to safeguard history every time Agent X plans something sinister.
I was involved in the game design and vision, design documentation, game architecture, and design team management. The users learn historical facts and contents though the interactive modules, while in action as the members of this team. The entertaining method of learning and doing keeps the users glued to games also achieving the target of delivering learning content.
