Electronic book
My project design took into account current Indian economic and social conditions. It had to be widely acceptable across society, and in the process, be able to positively contribute in building a stronger education system. The e-book, being just the right step towards the future, was chosen as my project to give a new dimension to school education in India. Adapting to e-books would benefit educational institutions from secondary schools to technical education.
For three decades, HCL Technologies Ltd. has been a pioneering force in its area of expertise – building a product that will revolutionize the educational system in India. Electronic books or e-books have made knowledge no longer confined to the pages of a few books. Billions of pages of information are now just a click away.
The electronic book I designed is aimed at revolutionizing the concept of access to information as an easy means of storing and viewing literature and more. It is designed so that it can be immensely helpful not only to students but to casual readers as well by providing them a more interactive and advanced way of learning, limitless possibilities in exploring and accessing knowledge from the internet, the entire syllabus in one e-book, easy to feed syllabus content for different institutions, novels and comics that could be sold in book stores, facility of electronic book in libraries rather than printed books and an easy way to correct printing errors.
Many school boards like NCERT have already converted text books into electronic format and they are available on their websites. Numerous reference and tutorial materials are also already available in the electronic format. Retail book stores and libraries are also potential users. Reduced storage space, and better distribution will benefit both readers and institutions.
