Godrej Interio needed a replacement for Izpace, their current furniture set in the market for children. The collection needed to be specifically designed for children from the age of six up to the age of 12, and be something fully new to the Indian market.
The theme of the collection was “flipping,” that is, converting one piece into something totally different. The collection was to provide children the perfect outlet for their creativity and give them a sense of belonging as they have their own special place to themselves. The set could be bought as well as discarded individually or as a set.
‘Flip’ turnabout furniture, a complete living solution for a child, keeps in mind the needs and wants of the child. However, this collection is not generalized furniture for children usable for everyone up to the age of 18, but is more specifically designed so children can use it better. Also, the set is flexible, so it actually grows with the child and parents need not discard the furniture once the child grows up.
It is playful, interesting and able to cope with a child’s constantly changing tastes. It adapts itself to any bedroom layout. It can be customized to a child’s growing needs and thus can be used for a longer period of time and is specialized at the same time. Its flexibility to mould itself to varied space environments lends it the quality to stay evergreen for a long time.
I learnt a lot of things from all the people working around me, not only in the design department, but other places like the marketing, sales departments, etc. and also learnt how an entire organization works.
