The scope of the project extended to setting up a glass studio that houses the equipment to manufacture fused and slumped glass and to design, and conceptualize a product that can be manufactured in the studio.
The need for brand building arose since it was important to communicate the vision and philosophy of the company to the target audience. I studied a few brands, understood their lineage and that these brands were made over a period of time.
I started the project with the run to arrange funds to meet the infra structural requirements. I found out about the various schemes available and the requisites for seeking a loan of which the most important was submission of a project report. Next, I went about studying and meeting a few people who had established studios and found out more about the kind of work they were doing and the market they were catering to.
Then came the task of getting things under one roof through the “setting up of the studio.” It was important to finalise a name for the studio as it would be the first step to building an image or brand. I did a concise study on brand building and its importance, began hunting for names and finally came up with the name Tatva.
The range of products that were to be manufactured in the studio comprised space dividers, small furniture pieces like peg tables, lamps, platters, bowls, tea light holders and frames for mirrors, and photographs.
The entire process of setting up the studio and creating a product range seemed, at first, like a far away destination. It was an exhaustive learning process, which gave me immense knowledge of the material, processes and the practical world outside.
