The objective of this project was to explore the possibilities of health care solutions in rural India, study and understand how different services work in the context of rural India and build a scenario on how these services can come together to provide better health care service.
During the process, I had to identify opportunity areas in the current rural scenario and suggest possible solutions to improve health care delivery by utilizing these services. Conducting user study in the villages helped validate and bring out the key problem areas that are affecting delivery of health care.
Analyzing the data to draw trends, predict how different services will be in future, what possible new services will come up, building system models to understand how these services interact with each other and how they can be used with each other to provide better health care in future, formed the other processes followed.
System models for each idea were developed to help support the idea in terms of how different services will be in future. These ideas were focused towards giving people access to information, preventive care, medication reminder and better ways of remembering prescriptions. The project resulted in the formation of concepts and suggestions on how a certain solution can help overcome the lack in the current system and also fit in the future requirement.
Conducting user study in villages was a challenge in terms of communicating in regional language, difficulty in reaching the village, observing the villagers customize the use of mobile phones, and making people comfortable. It also gave me an opportunity to know how villages have been changing and how different they are from the mental picture I had in mind about villages.
