Collaboration platform is a key enabler for large enterprises working across the globe. I designed an interactive networking platform for Infosys intranet which would be helpful to all employees in their day-to-day activities and while interacting with other people across different verticals. It also enabled features, which would depict a person’s contextual identity in the given environment.
In this era of growing globalization where teams collaborate and work remotely from off shore development centres, interaction between and among various teams from different verticals becomes crucial. Also, finding the right resource among the huge talent pool available within is a challenging task.
This project was about conceptualization of an interactive platform which would act as an enabler in large enterprise challenges. The Infosys Technologies Limited’s intranet, named Sparsh, does the job of creating a unified experience across the company, fostering a strong corporate culture and inspiring a community feeling among all employees, whether seasoned or brand new. Latest Web2.0 trends and extensive user study was done as part of the research. The insights were used in proposing an application that would also help in creating visibility of employee’s identity in the ecosystem.
User-centred design process was used in this project. In the research phase, interviews and surveys were conducted across the user segment. Based on the feedback and considering the evolving trends of the social web and upcoming technology, an application was proposed. Prototypes of the application were developed. Interactive user evolutions were carried out to validate the usability issues and tested.
It was a great learning for me since I was new to the world of intranets and huge organization cultures. I got a chance to understand the current situation that organizations are trying to tackle by using innovative approaches.
